Photo Geotagging

A fun thing I just discovered is photo geotagging. You can tag the location of photos that you upload to your Picasa Web Albums and people can view your public photos at their locations in Google Maps . This also works in Google Earth which is way cool. There is also a website called Panoramio that allows you to upload and geotag your photos for viewing in Google Earth as well. Panoramio has editors that choose photos meeting their criteria for addition to their KML file. It is fascinating to browse the maps/satellite photos and view the photos that people have uploaded to various locations. Certain high end cameras have a connector for a GPS unit that will allow the automatic addition of geo-location data to the EXIF data attached to your digital photos. See this website for further information.
